Closest Approach to the Earth (2007)

    On March 11, 2007, a newly discovered asteroid, designated "2007 EH", passed relatively close to the Earth at high velocity. Its closest approach was 0.0012 AU, which is a little less than half the distance from the Earth to the Moon. Given the vastness of space, this is really, really close. This composition is a contemplation about what it might be like to be that asteroid hurtling through an immense void suddenly coming perilously close to a collision with a much larger object before passing the crisis and heading off again into the black...
