Summer Smoke (2007)
This piece is simultaneously a reflection on a relaxing summer and a fantasy of sorts. I spent a great deal of time this summer sitting on my porch thinking about future directions for my life and smoking cigarettes. Smoking is an interesting habit. Aside from the physical addiction to nicotine, I am quite entranced by the small physical movements involved in the process of smoking, and their associated sounds. This piece is a tongue in cheek exploration of where those sounds took me during the summer of 2007.
